Later today the Senate will vote on a “motion to proceed” to consider the For the People Act (HR 1/S 1). This vote is NOT the final vote on the bill. It is simply a vote to allow the Senate to begin to actively debate this vital bill to protect voting rights nationwide, end secret money in politics and strengthen our democracy in other areas. And, yet, Mitch McConnell has revealed that he will vote to block even this preliminary step.

Mitch McConnell is afraid of voters. He knows when more eligible voters cast their ballots, more Republicans lose elections. That’s why Republicans in state legislatures in 48 states have introduced nearly 400 voter suppression bills under the guise of promoting election integrity.

Today Mitch McConnell will vote to block even debating the For the People Act. The question is whether any Senate Republicans will defy him and stand up for our democracy. We need 10 Republican senators to vote “YES” to get the 60 votes needed to overcome McConnell’s planned filibuster and allow debate to begin on this legislation.

Add your name to call on at least 10 Republican Senators to stand up for our democracy and support the fight to protect voting rights by voting FOR the “motion to proceed” to consider the For the People Act >>

The House passed this critical legislation in March. It’s long past time time for the Senate to do the same and safeguard access to the ballot box in every state in our union.

Add your name to our petition to stop voter suppression efforts across our country and support this first step toward the passage of the For the People Act:

The right to vote is the critical foundation of our democratic system. Giving up is not an option.

Thank you for being part of this.
