I get lots of requests for donations. I bet you do too. So, why should you read this letter and donate to the Green Party?

After all we are a political party and not an issue campaign like: saving the whales; advocating for clean water; reducing plastic waste; preserving the rainforests; supporting a living wage for workers; supporting the rights and dignity of immigrants; ending the use of private prisons; reform of the criminal justice system; support for public education, including universal pre-K and tuition free public universities; or advocating for universal single payer healthcare.

We're asking you to be a monthly donor to the Green Party because as a political party we are getting to the root of all those problems by translating environmental and social justice values into a legislative agenda.

From the beginning we have striven to reinvent politics in the US. Our candidates, elected officials, and our ideas have pushed the boundaries of what is possible. We have changed the political dialogue and are committed to continuing that work despite the tremendous barriers that we face. Ballot access laws seek to shut us out, the media silences us by ignoring our campaigns, and the corporate parties have launched a campaign of misinformation against our candidates.

Even when our candidates don’t win, they are instrumental in bringing forward ideas and solutions that gather momentum and do succeed. Our candidates and elected Greens have long championed marriage equality, the legalization of marijuana, and a “Green New Deal”. Did you know that our Party Platform has supported reparations for slavery and Single Payer Universal Health Care for almost two decades?

Your donation to the Green Party is a challenge to the “politics as usual” of the corporate parties, where corporations are people and money is speech. Your donation is an affirmation that “We the People” can find solutions to the big problems that face our communities, and it’s a commitment to GRASSROOTS DEMOCRACY.
