I’m thrilled, John -- today for only the second time in history, the Senate is holding a full committee hearing on D.C. statehood.

Please take a moment to sign our petition and share it on social media. Amplifying our message plays a huge role in garnering the public support necessary to make D.C. the 51st state. 

Remember, this isn’t a partisan issue and it’s not even a D.C. issue -- it’s an American issue of basic fairness and civil rights. 

Almost 700,000 Washingtonians -- nearly half of whom are Black -- do not have full voting representation in Congress. Meanwhile, they pay more federal taxes per capita than any state in the country and more than 20 states overall. 

But I’ll be honest with you: even with President Biden’s support and 54% of the public on our side, righting this historic wrong won’t be easy.

Take action right now so we can finally live up to our Founding Fathers’ vision of “no taxation without representation.”
