Hundreds of young, fully vaccinated Sunrise volunteers are traveling to D.C. from all over the country next week for our biggest event of the summer — a demonstration at the White House to make sure Joe Biden follows through on his climate promises.

Preparations for Monday’s event were going smoothly until we got some bad news: The place where 100+ Sunrisers were supposed to spend Sunday night in D.C. is no longer available.

Can you host a Sunriser (or 2 or 3) in your D.C.-area home? Whether you have a spare bed, a couch, or just an empty spot that’ll fit an air mattress, we’re grateful for whatever you can offer. Let us know you can host ASAP so we can connect you with someone who needs housing: [[link removed]]

Most of our volunteers are young people, many of whom don’t have the funds or capacity to book a hotel stay on short notice. We’re not looking for anything fancy — all we need is a place in the D.C. area to rest our head for the night. Everyone coming into town for Monday’s event is required to be fully vaccinated.

If just 1 in 5 people reading this email offered to host a Sunrise volunteer in their D.C.-area home right now, we’d reach our goal. We need you to be that person, John.

Once you sign up to be a supporter housing host, we’ll handle the rest. These folks have put their lives on hold to travel across the country to fight for good jobs and a livable future at the White House next Monday, and now that 100+ units of our housing have fallen through at the last minute, we appreciate any help you can provide!
