World Rainforest Day:
Help us reconnect a rainforest at breaking point

On World Rainforest Day you can make a difference, you can help us protect a rainforest pushed to breaking point by habitat loss and fragmentation.

In Malaysian Borneo’s Kinabatangan Floodplain, fewer than 800 orangutans remain from the 20,000 who lived here a century ago but our partner HUTAN has a plan. After decades saving land in the area, they’re now in a position to protect two new plots of rainforest: a safer home for orangutans, pangolins, elephants, hornbills, primates and big cats – and your donations to our new appeal can make it possible.

The world loses a football field of rainforest every six seconds but this is a rainforest we still have time to save. This is the green heart of the Kinabatangan. Help us protect it!

HUTAN’s Isabelle Lackman on the lifeline WLT supporters could hand to orangutans by supporting our new appeal

In her letter to WLT supporters, HUTAN co-founder Dr Isabelle Lackman explains why it is paramount to save orangutan habitat through our new appeal – the latest chapter, for HUTAN, after decades restoring a landscape battered by deforestation.

If there’s a legacy for HUTAN after these decades, it’s having shown that people and planet can thrive together when conservation is inclusive. That is our vision, and that is what we can continue to deliver at Pangi this year, with your help”
