In March, our Climate Works for All coalition held the Climate, Jobs, and Justice Mayoral Forum, where we asked tough questions for NYC mayoral candidates on their plans for climate and economic justice. In the lightning round, all candidates said they would work to implement our climate infrastructure and job creation strategies outlined in our report, An Equitable Recovery for NYC, which would require investing $16 billion in infrastructure projects and workforce development for Black, Indigenous and communities of color. Be sure to read our voter education guide to be fully informed on where citywide candidates stand on climate, jobs, and justice.
This past month, we also laid out a road map for Mayor de Blasio and the next incoming Mayor to build Green, Healthy Schools and create green jobs and a more sustainable future for our children. Our report shows that installing solar energy and air control systems will enhance equity and safety in K-12 public schools, while creating good-paying jobs that help the city achieve its climate goals. Your vote will be critical for the health of our school children and their communities as we head for a full return to in-person classes this fall.
