CPAC

John, the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters' (NCLCV) Conservation PAC has renewed the seal of approval it gave Roy Cooper in 2016.

We were instrumental in electing Cooper governor, and in 2018, helped multiply the environmental champions who have successfully sustained his vetoes of Jones Street’s pro-polluter policies.

“Gov. Cooper’s environmental leadership has been a breath of fresh air for every North Carolinian, and he has more than lived up to the promise we saw in him four years ago,” said Carrie Clark, NCLCV executive director. “His veto pen has stopped the General Assembly’s worst environmental legislation, and he has charted a bold path toward a clean energy future that will ward off the worst impacts of climate change.”

Gov. Cooper’s Executive Order 80 called for a plan to move North Carolina to 100% clean energy by 2050, a plan delivered to the governor by his Climate Change Interagency Council last week. Achieving this goal will create good-paying jobs in our state; clean our air and water, particularly for communities of color who are disproportionately the victims of fossil fuel pollution; and sustain our communities and way of life.

“Gov. Cooper is moving us forward, and we know he’ll continue to grow his environmental legacy in his second term,” said Dan Crawford, NCLCV director of governmental relations.

NCLCV's Conservation PAC makes endorsement decisions based on the environmental voting and leadership record of incumbent legislators and governors, issue questionnaires sent to candidates, and other background information.
