We know why Rubio is already resorting to smear tactics to protect his seat -- he knows the American people are catching on to his track record. Rubio voted to throw out Trump's “stupid” impeachment case. Then, he voted to acquit Trump entirely, insisting we should all “move on” from the deadliest attack on our Capitol since the War of 1812. And in case his alliances weren't clear enough, he voted against a COVID-19 relief package
Demings knows defeating a Trump-endorsed incumbent won't be easy, but in her words: “Marco Rubio, he is afraid of a tough fight. I am not. I grew up poor, Black and female in the South. … I know it's not going to be easy, but I do believe it is doable.”
We do too.
CNN projects Marco Rubio's seat is among the most likely to flip this cycle -- probably because voters nationwide are ready to hold every single Senate insurrectionist accountable -- and Demings is exactly the kind of leader we need to replace a man who openly sided with a wannabe authoritarian over his own constituents.
But we're going to need everyone on board if we're going to help Demings make history as Florida's first Black woman senator. While Rubio's counting on Trump's treasure chest and corporate donors, we're counting on people like you to propel this movement.
