One of the most essential parts of our democracy is the right to vote. There should be nothing partisan about ensuring that every American citizen has the appropriate resources and time to vote.

But that hasn't stopped Republican legislators like Mike Garcia from voting against common-sense legislation like the For the People Act.

Mike Garcia and his Republican colleagues are using Trump's election fraud lie to spread disinformation about the For the People Act -- which an overwhelming majority of Americans support.

Here are some important parts of the For the People Act :
1. Makes Election Day a federal holiday.
2. Cuts dark money out of politics.
3. Ends partisan gerrymandering by requiring states to use independent commissions to create the lines for congressional redistricting.

This bill is just commonsense -- but that didn't stop Mike Garcia from voting against it.

Now that the bill is up for a vote in the Senate this week, we have to show folks how important this bill is -- and why it has to pass.

For far too long, basic democratic reforms have been overlooked. In the meantime, the Republicans have manipulated the actual message of the For the People Act and used Trump's tactic of lies to justify their opposition.
