Hi John,
Margaret Thatcher once said, “The state has no source of money other than the money people earn themselves. If the state wishes to spend more, it can do so only by borrowing your savings or by taxing you more. There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers’ money.” Without the hard-earned money surrendered by everyday Americans, the state has nothing.
However, the Left has failed time and time again to understand this simple concept. They believe the opposite: that the state is entitled to your money to use as they see fit. This belief causes them to spend recklessly, run up the bill, and saddle government with debt. Recently, Colorado has become the poster-child for this phenomena. According to the Independence Institute, a free-market think tank, recent liberal-backed legislation will cause Coloradoans to face a $617 million increase in taxes and fees. This equates to roughly a $430 increase in expenses for the average family in the state.
Luckily, conservatives understand basic economics and the small role government should play in the lives of average Americans. We will always fight with the taxpayer in mind and keep fiscal responsibility at the vanguard of policy decisions.
Sincerely,
Casey
