In an October 8th letter [ [link removed] ] to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Committee Chairs Adam Schiff, Eliot Engel, and Elijah Cummings, White House counsel Pat Cipollone accused House Democrats of using their impeachment inquiry as part of a long-standing plot to unconstitutionally remove President Trump from office.

"The effort to impeach President Trump – without regard to any evidence of his actions in office – is a naked political strategy that began the day he was inaugurated, and perhaps even before," Cipollone writes, citing an article [ [link removed] ] from the "Washington Post "announcing the launch of our Impeach Donald Trump Now [ [link removed] ] campaign one hour after the inauguration.

Cipollone, Trump, and the White House claim that our impeachment campaign was unfounded. They are wrong. By refusing to divest himself from his numerous properties across the globe, President Trump violated both the Foreign and Domestic Emoluments Clauses of the US Constitution. Since then, Free Speech For People has found thirteen total grounds for impeachment [ [link removed] ].

Free Speech For People is proud to have been in this impeachment fight from the beginning. We are at a tipping point in this impeachment fight. President Trump's increased belligerence is a sign that his defenses are falling. But we can't allow ourselves to become complacent. As I said in that Washington Post article the White House now cites: "If we were to wait for all the ill effects that could come from this, too much damage to our democracy would occur." Sadly, too much damage has already occurred and Congress cannot wait any longer. It must act now to uphold that bedrock principle that *nobody is above the law, not even the president.*
