One of our team's big projects for this week is doing a deep dive into our fundraising numbers ahead of next week's giant Q2 reporting deadline (a.k.a. when John will have to publicly declare how much we've raised to the FEC.)
As we were going through our records, we noticed that our average donation amount has fallen a bit since John announced he was running back in February.
Here's a side-by-side comparison from ActBlue of our average donation from February vs. our average this quarter to date:
Believe it or not, John, John doesn't see this as a bad thing. At all. He's downright glad to see that our grassroots-powered campaign is being fueled by hundreds of thousands of supporters chipping in whatever they can — even if it's just a few bucks at a time.
However, this slight decline means that we need to make up some crucial ground ahead of our Q2 deadline next week by recruiting more supporters to chip in for the very first time.
Trust us on this, John: It's not lost on John that even $21.47 is no small deal for a lot of folks on this team.
He knows that's hard-earned money that could just as easily be spent on bills, groceries, or even a few cups of coffee at Sheetz.
