You might have caught this news the other week:

Some of the richest Americans – Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and others – get away with paying not a single cent in income taxes some years.

They’re not tax cheats doing anything illegal. Our tax system allows certain tax avoidance strategies that billionaires can use but are beyond the reach of ordinary Americans.

At a time when Republicans are insisting we cut earned benefits like Social Security and Medicare if we want to prioritize climate resiliency, affordable healthcare for all, and more, we simply cannot afford to let the wealthiest American skip out on paying their fair share.

What do you think? Should America’s billionaires pay more than one cent annually in taxes? [[link removed]]

YES → [[link removed]] NO → [[link removed]]

These loopholes in our tax system allow billionaires – many of them who made their fortunes in technology and now make money off the disinformation that spreads on those platforms – to store their wealth in assets like stock and property, which are not defined as taxable income until they are sold under current tax law.

In today’s economy, the average American worker is suffering from historic wage stagnation and high unemployment rates. Good paying, steady union jobs are few and far between. And yet the wealthiest 1% are getting richer and richer.

We can reform our tax code to ensure we all pay our fair share. Do you agree? Should Congress do more to close these loopholes? [[link removed]]
