Happy Pride!

To all my friends and constituents in the LGBTQ community, this is a month to celebrate your movement, your history, and your life!

Please know you will always have an ally and an advocate in me.

From day one in the House of Representatives, I’ve fought for LGBTQ equality -- and it’s even part of the reason I decided to run for Congress.

After the horrific Pulse nightclub shooting in June 2016, I watched as my congressman accepted a contribution from the NRA just days after the shooting. So I ran against him later that year and put commonsense gun safety laws and LGBTQ rights front and center.

And when I came to Congress, I helped pass the Equality Act in the House to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation.

But I know it’s not enough. We can always do more in the cause of equality.

So I will continue to fight for your rights, each and every day I’m in office. Thank you, thank you all, for making America a better, brighter place to live.
