Good afternoon friend,

In a landmark success for the assisted dying campaign, a proposal for a new Assisted Dying Bill has been lodged in the Scottish Parliament . This is the first step to a new Bill being brought before MSPs for the first
time since 2015. The Bill would legalise assisted dying as a choice for
terminally ill, mentally competent adults, a change supported by 87% of the
Scottish public.

Liam McArthur MSP is taking the Bill with cross-party support - many MSPs from
across Scotland are strongly in favour of assisted dying and are grasping the
nettle to finally deliver choice for dying Scots.

We are now set to have two Assisted Dying Bills across both parliaments - there
has never been a better opportunity to change the law. But we can’t afford to be
complacent. Please make the most of this historic moment for the campaign by spreading the
word.

If you have friends or family in Scotland, please forward them this email and ask them to sign our official record of support for assisted dying in Scotland.

The campaign’s progress in Scotland really is thanks to the team effort of
supporters across the UK - from donating to our crowdfunder to deliver powerful
adverts ahead of the election, to encouraging Scottish friends and family to get
involved north of the border, your support has got us to this point.

Law change in Scotland would not only provide much needed choice to dying Scots,
it would also demonstrate to MPs in Westminster that, across the UK, Britons are
ready for a change in the law.

As Liam McArthur MSP announced today:

“Emerging from the pandemic, we have an opportunity to take the actions required
to make sure that the end of our lives is more compassionate, fairer and more
reflective of a dying person’s choice. We have the ability to create a new standard for how we die.”

Thank you for all you do to support the campaign. Together, we will change the
law across the UK.
