Tell Congress:
“Make the Child Tax Credit expansion permanent and lift millions of children out of poverty―paid for by making the rich pay their fair share.”
|
John,
Billionaire wealth has grown by 55% ($1.6 trillion) during the pandemic while 2.5 million more children have fallen into poverty.[1]
President Biden has begun to create a fairer tax system to put more money in the hands of families who actually need it, paid for by billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. By expanding the Child Tax Credit (CTC), the president has ensured that more than 90% of children are now covered by the CTC, with families receiving monthly checks to help with everything from food to housing to other basic necessities.
Over the next year, the expanded Child Tax Credit will cut child poverty nearly in half.[2] But the expansion only lasts one year.

The expanded Child Tax Credit is included in President Biden’s American Families Plan, which became law in March, to help build an economy that works for all of us.
Right now, families making up to $150,000 will receive a full, refundable tax credit worth $3,000 for children ages 6-17 years old and $3,600 for children under 6. Refundable means you will get the financial support whether you pay federal income taxes or not. And you won’t have to wait to do your taxes to get a payment―starting this month families will receive up to $300 a month per child through December 2021.[3]
Let’s make it permanent by making those at the top pay their fair share! Click here to write to your members of Congress today!
We can start by passing President Biden’s American Families Plan, which will extend his CTC expansions through 2025―paid for by raising taxes on people making more than $400,000 a year and by increasing IRS enforcement targeting wealthy and corporate tax cheats.[4]
Together, we’re fighting for an economy and tax system that invests in jobs, families and our future―paid for by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share.
Thank you for taking action today.
