What's At Stake

Every survivor who calls our 24-hour hotline (703-237-0881) has their own unique story and needs. Some need emotional support and help creating a safety plan. Some need emergency shelter to escape imminent danger, and later, a new place to call home. Some need an advocate to be with them at the hospital after an assault. Some need counseling for themselves and their children. Some need all of the above. Doorways is here for all survivors.

Doorways is the only provider of shelter, services, and supportive housing for survivors in Arlington and the City of Falls Church.

From an inability to pay rent because of economic abuse to a violent partner causing property damage, there are many reasons victims find themselves on the brink of losing their home.

Situations like Angela's, where a survivor is no longer in an abusive relationship but is still fleeing an abuser, also contribute to unstable housing situations, even if money is no object."
