The GOP is desperate to flip Georgia this cycle -- and Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz have already started laying the groundwork with their America First Tour.
While opening a rally in Dalton, GA, Greene promised Trump would be back in Washington soon, claiming “he's the best president ever, and we're going to bring him back.” Then, she made it clear that when Republicans take back the majority, it'll be with “conservative American values.”
We know exactly what that means coming from a woman who once warned that Democrats were threatening our “uniquely anglo-saxon political traditions.” The worst part? There was a line forming outside this rally before Greene or Gaetz even arrived -- and their agenda has millions of supporters nationwide.
It's tempting to look the other way -- many Americans are, but we've seen how dangerous their fascist movement is. Trump's right-wing allies are throwing millions into tight races to help the GOP retake the House and Senate. They're spreading conspiracy theories about the 2020 election in battleground states like Georgia to sow even more distrust in our democracy. They're echoing Trump's hateful rhetoric in rallies nationwide.
Our country is at a turning point, and we can either sit back while right-wing extremists like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz plunge us further into division or do everything we can to protect our democracy and elect leaders with a progressive vision that will uplift every community.
We choose the latter, but we have to be frank with you, Democratic giving has plummeted -- we're already $2,019 behind goal, and we're worried our supporters won't be paying attention until it's too late to make a difference.
Listen, we can't forget that over 70 million Americans voted for a second Trump term -- and just over five months ago, the GOP encouraged a violent mob of white supremacists to break into the Capitol and overturn the election results.
