When Texas Republicans tried to jam a partisan voter suppression bill through the state House, Democrats walked off the floor and killed the bill. Afterward, they declared that “We need Congress to do their part” and pass legislation to safeguard the right to vote.

And Congress must step up, because voting rights are under relentless assault — and not just in Texas.

You’ve no doubt heard about the voter suppression law passed in Georgia, but the same thing just happened in Florida. There, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill that criminalized giving food and water to Floridians in line to vote, limited ballot drop boxes, and created onerous regulations for anyone who wanted to vote by mail in future elections.

In total, as of mid-May, state-level Republicans have introduced 389 bills in almost all fifty states.

But Mark Warner and this team are fighting back. The Forward Together PAC, which Mark created in 2006 to support Democratic candidates in Virginia and around the country, is working to fight voter suppression by electing Democratic senators who will protect the right to vote. Voter suppression is wrong, and it doesn't just hurt the people in the states where it happens. That's because who gets to vote in a state like Texas, Florida, Georgia, and Arizona could determine the outcome of a national election … like the 2024 presidential election.
