As the streets heat up and summer gets on the way, we at Community Justice Action Fund hope that you are staying safe & healthy! I’m writing to share our unique opportunities to attend our virtual events that are listed below. We hope you take some time away from the pool and join us!

Community Building Call

On Tuesday, June 29th at 2:00pm CST/3:00pm EST we will host our monthly Community Building Call featuring speakers & organizational updates as we celebrate Pride & Gun Violence Awareness month. Please sign up to join us HERE.

CJAF 5 Year Anniversary

We cannot begin to tell you our excitement and pride as CJAF turns 5 years old. It has been an incredible 5 years, as we have made great strides towards investments into community violence solutions in 2021. The fight continues as we work to advance community investments and advocate to end gun violence in communities of color. We will be hosting a special event on June 30th at 3:00PM ET/2:00PM CST where you learn more about the history of the organization and get to know more about the team personally.

Maryland’s #FightForTwo

In Maryland, over the past 5 weeks we’ve been advocating for 2% of the American Rescue Plan funding by calling, emailing & tweeting Maryland leadership & elected officials. We need YOU to call and email county commissioners in MD, asking them to allocate 2% of ARP funds to community violence prevention solutions. Join us to call & email commissioners on Wednesday June 23rd, at 2:00pm EST.

Amnesty International’s Summer Organizing Workshop

On Saturday, June 26th, Thia’a and I will be speaking at Amnesty International USA’s Summer Organizing Workshop along with leaders from Amnesty International Kenya and Brazil, The ACLU and the Sierra Club! Our workshop is “Organizing 101” at 1:05 pm EST. I hope to see you there. Register here!
