Share you story with the Catholic Charities network
CCUSA’s Storybank, a tool that allows staff of Catholic Charities member agencies – and anyone touched by the Catholic Charities ministry – to share insights and memories of people realizing their inherent dignity: stories that relate everything from overcoming an addiction to finding sustainable employment and affordable housing. One of the best ways to make an impact on the important issues that the Catholic Charities ministry addresses is to show how people are actually helped: what was the specific issue?; how was it resolved?; what did Catholic Charities do?; was there a government program that was essential to the process? The stories collected through this tool will be used to raise national awareness of the work of the Catholic Charities network including, but not limited to, posting to CCUSA’s website and online platforms, sharing with national media outlets and policymakers, and featuring in future issues of Charities USA. Please note: All submissions will clearly credit the respective member agency. SUBMIT YOUR STORY HERE.
The Laudato Si' Action Platform
Pope Francis is challenging Catholic communities and organizations across the world – including Catholic Charities agencies - to gradually work toward "total sustainability" in our common call to care for creation. This invitation is centered upon a Laudato Si’ Action Platform through which Catholic organizations publicly commit to a seven-year journey of ecological conversion. The action platform is framed across seven Laudato Si’ goals which reflect Catholic Social Teaching and provide “footsteps” in areas such as education, spirituality, the adoption of sustainable practices, community engagement, and a commitment to address poverty. Registration to commit to this process has now opened and will conclude on October 4, the Feast of Saint Francis. Read more here. You may also reach out to Scott Hurd, Vice President for Leadership Development and Catholic Identity at CCUSA.

CCUSA/LEO evaluation cohort on improving youth outcomes
Join us Thursday, June 24th at 2:30 PM ET to learn about the CCUSA/LEO evaluation partnership on improving youth outcomes. Register here for the meeting. Catholic Charities USA and the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunity (LEO) are launching an initiative focused on evaluating programs that are improving outcomes for youth (under age 25). LEO and CCUSA are seeking to identify five Catholic Charities member agencies who are currently running innovative youth programs and are interested in research. The goal is to test innovative programs that are decreasing youth inequality; outcomes of interest include: education attainment, employment and earnings, housing stability, decreased involvement with the criminal justice system, etc. Ideal candidates for this partnership are organizations that are committed to launching an RCT to evaluate an existing program focused on improving youth outcomes. Any staff working with youth-serving (ages 0-25) programs are invited to attend to learn if this evaluation partnership is a fit for your program, and vice versa. Support from key agency decision makers is critical to the success of this partnership, so participation from executive, evaluation, and program leaders is strongly encouraged. Find full details about this partnership using this link.
Building Community to End Poverty Webinar
How can families experiencing poverty gain stability in the post-pandemic economy? How can volunteers overcome pandemic social isolation through meaningful relationships with others in their community? Through the Circles model, participating communities support families to get out of poverty and remove the barriers that stand in the way. In this webinar, Circles USA presenters will share what they’re learning about “building community to end poverty” at a variety of levels: (1.) Empowering families of low wealth to make gains in income, education, employment, home ownership, reliable transportation, social support, and emotional/physical wellbeing; (2.) Encouraging volunteers and staff to expand their knowledge of poverty, empathy, and engagement in their communities; (3.) Organizing communities to implement initiatives that remove systemic barriers to poverty reduction; (4.) Building relationships across all sectors, including the business/economic development stakeholders and policymakers; (5.) Fostering poverty reduction systems that tackle root causes of poverty. Date: July 7, 2021. Time: 2 PM EST. Registration here.
