Friends,

Happy Father’s Day to all of the amazing fathers and father figures out there! I’d like to take a moment to reflect on what this day means to me.

From a young age, my dad showed me the importance of justice for all. He was a Lutheran minister in Detroit in the ‘60s and I had the privilege of watching him fight for civil rights alongside other community organizers and leaders. It was through his example that I knew I wanted to run for Congress and make life better for people from all walks of life.

Being a father to Ben and Ellie is my most cherished job. Watching them grow into successful, ethical adults has been the greatest joy of my life. I know my dad’s legacy will live on through them.
 

Now, let’s get back to work restoring hope in this country for generations to come.
