June is National Great Outdoors Month. My kids and I love spending time in nature -- whether we’re hiking, biking, skiing, boating, or taking Scooter and Teton for walks around Nevada’s beautiful Red Rock Canyon.
It’s no secret that Nevada is home to some of the most breathtaking natural beauty in the country. Two thirds of Nevada is made up of public lands (!!), giving us 6.5 million acres of protected wilderness, four national parks, and an abundance of natural resources.
Protecting Nevada’s beauty is one of my top priorities. I’ve helped lead the bipartisan extension of the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act to provide federal funding for the restoration and preservation of the lake, and worked across the aisle to pass the Great American Outdoors Act that will ensure the preservation of the public lands we all depend on.
From natural attractions like Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead, and the beautiful Lake Tahoe -- Nevada has so much to see, and so much to protect.
I always say, there is no Planet B. Conservation is essential for making sure future generations get to enjoy all that Nevada has to offer.
Whether you're hiking, swimming, or just soaking up the sun, I hope you take a little time today to appreciate all that Mother Nature has to offer.
I look forward to seeing your responses,
Susie Lee
