Hello Friend,

Happy Father's Day. Today is such a symbolic holiday of the love and care that our fathers provide in our lives and communities. I feel so grateful not only for my own dad, but the dads I've gotten to know throughout my life who helped make our world a better place.

Today, I'm thinking of the families in Michigan's 11th district and hoping folks are finding the time to enjoy this holiday exactly how they wish. It feels good to see our vaccination rates rising and our ability to come together starting to be restored.

As some of you may know, earlier this year my father contracted COVID-19. It was early February and was upsetting because he had contracted the virus shortly before getting his first shot of the vaccine, but had not yet shown symptoms. Ultimately, my dad had to spend nearly ten days in the hospital receiving oxygen and other necessary treatments. Unable to see him or help in person, I felt the pain that too many other families experienced while torn apart and dealing with this virus. Thankfully (and I count this blessing every day), my dad fully recovered, received his second vaccine, and is back to fully living his life as he should.

Perhaps it makes this Father's Day a bit more reflective for me.

If my "Daddio" were to have one wish for the families of Michigan 11, it would be to get outside, appreciate nature and find a way to put a smile on someone's face.

I hope you're able to do just that.

All my love,

Haley
