I’ll be the first to admit my job isn’t easy. It takes character, integrity, courage, and wisdom to lead by example for those that will come after me. It also takes extreme patience to impart logic and reason into unreasonable arguments …
… usually about whatever toy we want to take to school that day.
Being the Representative of California’s 15th District is the honor of a lifetime, but the title I hold most proudly is being Nelson and Cricket’s Dad. Over the last four years, these two have taught me a lifetime of valuable lessons.
My wife Brittany, daughter Cricket, son Nelson, our pup, Penny, and me.
Even on Father’s Day, Mom got this one right. Brittany tells me all the time, I am a better Congressman because of the lessons I learn as a father: How to be caring, compassionate, and lead with integrity because I always have Nelson and Cricket watching me.
Being a father, I have a front row seat to all the issues American families are facing; child care accessibility, safe public schools, and clean and healthy environments for our families to grow in.
I step into the halls of Congress each morning with Brittany, Nelson, Cricket, and every one of you in my heart; and work to make tomorrow better for all of us.
I won’t rest until we have a better future, but I might take today off. 😉
Happy Father’s Day to all of the Dads out there.
— Nelson and Cricket’s Dad
P.S. I couldn’t resist leaving you with a dad joke: Why do seagulls fly over the ocean? Because if they flew over the bay, we’d call them bagels!
