Just a quick note...
Hello John,
Freedom for Animals' Director, Sam Threadgill here.
I am delighted to be sharing another heart-felt message with you from one of our Patrons and expert animal welfare advisors. Take a read of what our Patron and Professor of Biology Marc Bekoff, has to say below!
We couldn't responsibly or effectively deliver our work without the input and backing of experts in animal behaviour, veterinary science, law, welfare and campaigning. So when you take part in our campaigns for animals, you know you are contributing to campaigns that can truly make a difference to animals.
This month we are urgently seeking 40 new Freedom Chmapions to join us, to make sure we can enter July with the funds and support we need to deliver our campaigns for the rest of 2021. I hope you can be one of those special people by joining us today.
Thank you.
For the animals,
Sam Threadgill

Hello John,
My name is Marc Bekoff. I am a Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I have a keen interest in animal minds, compassionate conservation and animal protection.
Like you, I want to see a world where animals are treated as individuals who matter because they are alive and have intrinsic value, not because of what they can do for us. Treating every individual with respect and dignity is the decent thing to do.
That is why I am a Patron of Freedom for Animals.
I support their campaigns against the keeping of animals in zoos. The impact of captivity on animals has been documented by Freedom for Animals over and over again. Crucial findings in the campaign to protect animals and end their unnecessary captivity.
I reviewed footage of Zara the polar bear, who was held captive by the company ‘Amazing Animals’ who supply animals to the media industry. Zara was showing clear signs of stress when being made to perform, clear from her repeated pacing on the spot and repeatedly shaking her head, classic stereotypic behaviours. To think she lived and died in captivity is tragic.
Again I saw these troubling behaviours in wolfdogs held captive at Borth Wild Animal Kingdom. Pacing continuously back and forth or in circles. The psychological torture of these animals at Borth Wild Animal Kingdom is plain to see.
Freedom for Animals is one of very few organisations fighting to end the captivity of animals and their use as objects for entertainment.
So today I invite you to be a part of these vital campaigns for animals, by signing up as a Freedom Champion. Your monthly donation will help advance the protection of animals, fight to end their exploitation and give them the freedom they deserve.
Thank you.
For the animals,
Prof Marc Bekoff
