Friend,
Being a father is tough. It's scary and overwhelming at times, but no matter what -- it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The challenges are even more unique and the stakes are even higher when you're a Black father. Our babies are only 5 and 3 years old. But we've already started having gentle, but honest, conversations with them to slowly prepare them as best we can for life as a Black American.
It's not an easy task. But it's a talk that could save their lives.
It's important for ALL parents -- especially parents who aren't Black -- to talk about racism and inequality with their children. In a nation that was built by white supremacy, it's on us to challenge the system and resist hate, starting with our own families.
Last Father's Day, we shared a list of resources for kids, teens, and parents to help each other broach the topic of race and racism in America. We're sharing that list again, friend, in the hopes that you will take time with your loved ones to have the conversations that must be had to move our country forward:

- I Hate That I Have To Tell You by Darnell Walker
- Something Happened in Our Town: A Child's Story About Racial Injustice by Marianne Celano, PhD, Marietta Collins, PhD, and Ann Hazzard, PhD.

- Daddy, There’s a Noise Outside by Kenneth Bramwell

From our family to yours, we are sending a lot of love and light your way. Have a happy Father's Day.
In solidarity,
Quentin & Stefanie
