Today we celebrate the dads, grandfathers, foster dads, bonus dads, uncles, and mentors in our lives who have helped us become who we are. This past year has been hard for parents everywhere. I watched my husband juggle a pieced-together schedule, virtual school and so much more, while working a demanding full-time job. It is a familiar story of too many households across the country.

John – Today we celebrate the dads, grandfathers, foster dads, bonus dads, uncles, and mentors in our lives who have helped us become who we are.

This past year has been hard for parents everywhere. I watched my husband juggle a pieced-together schedule, virtual school and so much more, while working a demanding full-time job. It is a familiar story of too many households across the country.

The good news is that Democrats delivered relief: As part of the American Rescue Plan signed into law this year, almost 90% of American families with children will receive monthly payments of up to $300, starting in July.

The American Rescue Plan also includes funding for the expansion and improvement of the child care industry and extended support for small businesses offering paid sick and family leave in response to the pandemic.

I fought for these crucial benefits that ensure dads can be there for their families – whether it’s taking paid leave to care for a sick child or parent or affording necessities, like child care.

My husband and children are the highlight of my life. I am proud to fight every day for a better future for them, and to advance policy that helps all the caregivers out there, including dads.

Thank you for all you do, Milford, and all the other awesome dads.

With love,

– Jahana
