Greetings!
This Father’s Day, I’ve been thinking a lot about the day a little more than 10 years ago when my husband Brian Mast was injured by an explosive device in Afghanistan...

I received a knock on the door at seven o’clock in the morning. I walked down stairs, and I could see men in uniform outside the window. I immediately froze on the bottom step. I was thinking the worst: every military spouse’s worst nightmare was now my life.

I didn’t know if Brian was dead or alive. I didn’t know if our six month old son was going to grow up without a dad. We had just had this little boy, and we had our whole lives ahead of us. With that knock on the door, I thought it was all over.

Then they called out “Hey, he’s okay. He’s hurt. We need to come inside.” The men proceeded to tell me that Brian had lost both legs and a finger when an improvised explosive device detonated in the Kandahar region of Afghanistan.

I thank God every day, but especially on Father’s Day, that Brian lived to be the amazing father that he is to our four children!

I reached out earlier this week asking if some of Brian’s top supporters would join me in wishing him a Happy Father’s Day today. Thank you to all of you who have already added your names to our card to show your support!

But I had another idea…what if along with the card we could give Brian a small gift as a token of our appreciation for his tireless work on behalf of all the children in our community?

If we can put together $5,000 today, it’ll give Brian’s campaign a huge boost and take a big weight off of his shoulders! Would you be willing to chip in to our gift?
When I give Brian the card later today, I’ll include a list of the amazing supporters who contributed to our gift also!

Thank you so much!
Brianna Mast
