I emailed yesterday about the dire circumstances in state legislatures nationwide -- so many of them packed with voter-suppressing Republicans -- and I'm sorry to say that the situation in Congress is even worse.

 

Congressional Republicans are just as dead-set on voter suppression as state Republicans. And, with a national reach, federal voter suppression poses even more of a threat.

 

147 Congressional Republicans voted to overturn the 2020 election results. Denying reality -- and attempting to ignore the will of MILLIONS of voters -- is just about as maliciously dishonest as it gets.

 

And, despite being elected by the exact same voters who they claim fraudulently elected Joe Biden, Congressional Republicans are more than happy to go to work every day to block good-faith voting rights legislation.

 

John, while Republicans may have lost the 2020 election, they're doing everything in their power to make sure it never happens again.

 

That's why we need to support strong Democrats in Congress ready to fight tooth and nail against GOP voter suppression and Republican dishonesty. I'm proud to have co-sponsored a companion bill to the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to allow tenants to register to vote while signing their subsidized housing leases.

 

But, we need to do even more. We need to outraise the GOP and make absolutely sure that our seat remains blue in 2022.
