Independent Women’s Forum is pleased to announce that Christi Craddick, chairman of the Texas Railroad Commission, is the latest entry in our popular series of Champion Women profiles ([link removed]) .

Fond of feminine outfits in Republican red, Craddick comes alive when talking about such fascinating things as horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. She is the daughter of a political family, who was born in the middle of one of her father’s campaigns. She is seen as a possible future governor of the Lone Star State.

To understand just how powerful the Texas Railroad Commission is, the first thing you need to know is that it has absolutely nothing to do with railroads. The Railroad Commission is responsible for regulating the oil and gas industry.

With a new administration in Washington that is hostile to fossil fuels, Craddick and her fellow commissioners have their work cut out for them. “We are watching the Biden administration,” Craddick says, “and the people that they are trying to put in place and, yes, we're very concerned as a state.”

We know you will enjoy meeting this lady in red who can explain the most complicated energy issues in plain English and has a passion for doing just that.
