Chairman's Update

This is a weekly update from the Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman
Lawrence Tabas filling you in on what our statewide party leaders are up to,
along with relevant news pertaining to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

June 19, 2021

Chairman's Message

Fellow Pennsylvanians,

This week, I’m delighted to inform you that Governor Wolf’s emergency powers
have officially come to an end, after the administration formally certified the
results of the May 18th Primary Elections. For the last year, Pennsylvania has
suffered under Wolf’s lockdowns and arbitrary restrictions on personal
freedoms, but the people of Pennsylvania stood up and took back power. I want
to thank each and every one of you for getting out to vote and making this
victory possible. Our party would be nothing without you and your support. Now
that Wolf’s emergency powers have been terminated, we’re going to keep fighting
to reopen our state and make sure we follow up on our victory by electing
strong Republican candidates up and down the ballot.

Sincerely,

Lawrence J. Tabas
Chairman, Republican Party of Pennsylvania

The Wolf Administration has formally certified the results of the May 18th
primary elections, which brings an official end to the emergency disaster
declaration he issued at the beginning of the pandemic. The state legislature
voted to end the declaration last week after the people of Pennsylvania granted
them additional powers to end Wolf’s executive overreach, but the vote did not
officially take effect until the May 18th results were certified.

Pa. GOP eyes voter referendums to get past Gov. Wolf vetoes
June 14, 2021 | PennLive

While Governor Wolf continues to use his veto power to block popular proposals
such as Voter ID, Pennsylvania Republicans see another avenue to implementing
reforms by taking the issue directly to the people. In addition to introducing
election reform legislation, House Republicans unveiled a proposed
constitutional amendment to expand Pennsylvania’s voter ID requirement. Wolf
cannot block a proposed constitutional amendment, which will appear on the
ballot and be decided by the voters if it passes in two consecutive sessions of
the legislature. Republicans already scored a massive victory over Governor
Wolf using this process when the people of Pennsylvania voted to limit his
executive overreach.

GOP election reform bill would bring voter ID, early voting to Pa.
June 11, 2021 | City & State Pennsylvania

After gathering input from county officials, election administrators and
voting reform advocates, Pennsylvania Republicans have introduced a proposal to
overhaul Pennsylvania’s election laws. The new legislation would help secure
Pennsylvania’s elections and expand access to voting by requiring voters to
present a valid photo ID at the polls, establishing in-person early voting
starting in 2025, expanding the time counties have to process mail-in ballots
and allowing curbside voting for disabled individuals.

lauded for perseverance with Masterton Trophy by NHL
June 15, 2021 | ESPN

In December 2019, Philadelphia Flyers forward Oskar Lindblom was diagnosed
with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Despite the devastating
diagnosis, he battled on, appearing in two playoff games in 2020 for the Flyers
before his treatment was completed in July. After being declared cancer free,
