The Cato Institute will bring the libertarian perspective on liberty, socialism, wealth inequality, and financial inclusion to New York City with its Policy Perspectives City Seminar and Luncheon on Friday, October 25. Peter Goettler, Cato’s President and CEO, will kick off the event with his rousing talk on the morality of liberty. A luncheon address by Benjamin Powell, director of the Free Market Institute at Texas Tech, will cover his provocative new book Socialism Sucks. We will also hear from Diego Zuluaga and Lydia Mashburn of Cato’s Center for Monetary and Financial Alternatives, who will discuss the moral and economic imperatives of financial inclusion. Finally, Cato’s director of tax policy studies Chris Edwards will offer a response to Democratic presidential candidates who are calling U.S. wealth inequality obscene and saying that the economy is rigged by rich people. The event will be held from 10:50 AM to 2:00 PM at the Intercontinental Barclay Hotel at 111 E 48th St, New York, NY.
