John -

Today is Juneteenth, a celebration of the emancipation of some of the very last of those enslaved in the United States. And for the first time, we observe it together as a nation.

I want to recognize the leaders like Al Edwards andLula Briggs Galloway who spent years building towards this moment, and all the folks who have worked so hard to make it possible.

But let’s be clear: progress needs to start here, not end here. We have a long road to walk to real justice, and to address the toll white supremacy takes on African-Americans and all people of color every day.

We have to build on this moment. Now is the time to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, to protect voting rights for all, to raise the minimum wage, and to invest in single-payer health care.

I want to take today to pledge to all my supporters that I will do whatever I can to help us move forward.

Sincerely,
