Dear John,
Fresh
off electing our brand new London Assembly Member Zack Polanski - our
attention is turning to the local elections in May 2022.
All
of London will be electing local councillors and the elections this
year have truly demonstrated that there's been a surge in Green support.
We can win many more councillors - but we need to work for it.
It's
always worth reminding ourselves what having a Green on the council can
mean. Around the UK, it's Greens who have declared Climate Emergencies,
who have stood up against the cutting down of trees and destruction of
green spaces and who have been out there with communities standing up
for both environmental and social justice.
We
know, amongst many other things, one of the most effective ways of
gaining more representation is to leaflet so that people who might vote
Green know that we're working hard in their area. We have an action day on
Sunday 27th June and you can
sign up here.
We're
also planning to follow the action day with a
picnic in the park at 3pm - there's details
here. We will of course make sure there's
less than 30 people or be in separate groups to ensure COVID compliance.
We do ask though that if you're showing COVID symptoms to please avoid
the event - and we hope you feel better soon!
And
finally - we have our next monthly meeting on
Monday 5th July on Zoom
where we will be having a hustings (short question and answer session)
with our potential candidates to choose who we want to represent our
local Green Party in these areas. You can
sign up for this here.
Thank you for your continued support.
Hopefully see you on the 27th!
