In just under two weeks, my team and I will pull together our fundraising numbers for our quarterly FEC report. Unfortunately, we’re still thousands of dollars behind our goal for this quarter.
Here’s why your support is so critical: I take $0 in PAC donations throughout the cycle. That’s millions of dollars worth of resources left on the table. But to me, sticking to my ideals and putting working families first is more important.
However, after June 30th, our fundraising numbers become public for everyone — including the pundits and our opponents. If a powerful No PAC campaign can’t meet their goals, it sends the message that other politicians should take PAC money.
When our movement falls financially behind, there’s no massive corporate PAC that will swoop in to help us. From day one, I knew that’s how I wanted to run my campaign – no PACs, just people.
It’s a sacrifice, yes. But one that helps us keep our core values, fight unapologetically for working-people, and speak truth to power. And so far, it’s worked. Our movement has accomplished so much together, from electing a Democratic majority in the Senate to getting closer than ever before to passing Medicare for All. But there’s still work to do.
I will never stop fighting for the progressive values that unite us. I hope you won’t either.
