Truth to Power is funded by individual donors who give $5 or $10 (or whatever else they can afford) at a time. In turn, we make very intentional decisions about who we choose to endorse, making sure to support candidates who—like Rep. Katie Porter—reject donations from lobbyists, corporate PACs, executives at Big Oil companies, Wall Street banks, and other dark money sources.
The bottom line is this, John: You can always count on Truth to Power candidates to answer to the American people, because they are largely supported by the grassroots. We only work with candidates who only answer to the American people. And because we’re funded by individuals—your support as a grassroots donor truly makes a powerful difference in the work we do.
