Dear Friend,

Today, one of the main suspected architects behind the murder of beloved social movement leader Berta Cáceres stands trial. But justice is far from guaranteed. *That's where you come in.*

Five years ago, Indigenous feminist Berta Cáceres from our partner COPINH1 was murdered for defending Lenca territory against the Agua Zarca dam project. As we've since learned, company officials and Honduran state actors had a hand in her assassination.* It was, as COPINH calls it, a territorial femicide.*

As David Castillo, one of Berta's alleged killers, stands trial for his crime, social movements are uniting in an encampment outside the Supreme Court of Justice in Honduras's capital. *COPINH, our partner OFRANEH2, and other feminist and human rights organizations are occupying the square and demanding transparency and prosecution against "all "of Berta's killers.*

They are calling for global solidarity, for those of us not encamping to send emails to Honduran state officials to heed these movements' demands. Learn more and take action via the Honduras Solidarity Network (of which Grassroots is a member).

Demand that the Honduran state respect the individual guarantees and the victims' rights to a fair trial, without obstructing the Honduran people's right to truth and justice. And help us spread the word of this important action.

In solidarity,

Chung-Wha Hong
Executive Director
