Calling every adult ? you can now be vaccinated
Let's go get vaccinated campaign graphic
Every adult can now get vaccinated against Covid-19, which gives us a great chance to make use of the extra four weeks that we?re now spending under restrictions, to protect as many people as possible from the virus. It?s great that the age limit for getting a jab has now gone down to 18+, since it is the younger age groups where Covid rates are still rising. In the 60+ age range ? 90% of whom have been vaccinated in Nottingham ? the rates are staying level, so it?s clear the vaccines are having the desired effect. If you or anyone you know is aged 18 or over and still hasn?t gone for their vaccination, now is the time to do it. For the time-being 18 to 29-year-olds will still need to book, but it?s now the case that anyone over the age of 30 can just walk-in for a jab. It?s only by a significant proportion of the whole population being vaccinated that we are going to be able move forward and out of the restrictions, to go back to the freedoms we took for granted before the pandemic hit.
The vaccination bus is back next week. Eligible people can just turn up and get their vaccination. The schedule for next week is
* Monday: Jamia Sultania Mosque, 54 Sneinton Dale, Sneinton (all day)
* Thursday: The ICCA, 99 Hucknall Rd, Nottingham (AM only)

Nottingham Castle reopens from Monday
It's incredibly exciting that the gates of Nottingham Castle will re-open once again to visitors next Monday (21st). After three years of hard work and ?30m of investment, we?ve seen the site transformed into a truly world-class heritage attraction. I?m really proud of what the council?s project team has achieved at the castle and I would encourage people to go for a visit to see for themselves what an amazing transformation there has been.
The reopening is continuing despite the delay to the last stage of the Government?s roadmap, because Nottingham Castle Trust will be accepting reduced numbers of visitors each day and operating under Covid restrictions. But that won?t spoil what is now a really fantastic experience for visitors young and old, including the fascinating history of the castle itself, the stories of Robin Hood and other Nottingham rebels and tours of the caves ? all told in captivating ways that bring the historic site to life. New galleries, exhibitions, adventure playground and the beautifully restored building itself all add to a great day out.
The transformed Nottingham Castle will have a lasting impact on our City and its 1,000 years of history. It will bring new opportunities for jobs and volunteering, enhance tourism and boost the local economy as well as spearheading the wider regeneration of Nottingham City centre. As a world-class heritage attraction it will be something Nottingham people can be truly proud of. I hope to see you all there!
Visitors must pre-book their tickets via the Nottingham Castle website. [ [link removed] ] A ten per cent discount on tickets is available for city residents in NG1 to NG9 and NG11.

National accolade for local development
Waterside
The Trent Basin development has transformed a waterside site near the city centre into a highly desirable and sustainable new community. One of the reasons behind its success was a very effective engagement exercise which has now won a National Planning Award. It?s great to see that the innovative approach of the developers Blueprint and their partners Deetu not only helped to positively shape the design of the development, but has been recognised on a national stage. I?m looking forward to seeing how the rest of the area changes and develops, with a new school and pedestrian and cycle bridge among the improvements. See more here [ [link removed] ]

Enjoy the football - safely
Council House with St George's flag June 2021
All eyes will be on the England v Scotland match in the Euros tournament tomorrow. If anyone is heading in to the city to watch it with friends in a pub, bar or restaurant, they should take the precaution of taking a lateral flow test beforehand to satisfy themselves they are not carrying Covid without showing any symptoms. I?d like to thank everyone in the hospitality industry who has worked so well to introduce Covid safety measures and would urge everyone to stick to these. This means checking in with the NHS track and trace app, staying at tables to be served and wearing a face covering. Whatever the outcome of the match, we mustn?t risk things by letting our guard down.
However, I would like to take this opportunity to wish our national team good luck!
