Did you see yesterday's Supreme Court ruling?

June 18th, 2021

John,

After a four year assault by the Trump administration and numerous court challenges, the Affordable Care Act can once again let out a sigh of relief…  Yesterday the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act for the third time!

This ruling assures millions of working families are still protected by the benefits of the Affordable Care Act.

This ruling comes off the heels of President Biden’s announcement that over 31 million people have signed up for healthcare plans under the ACA since it was passed in 2010. Notably, 1.2 million people most recently signed up through the American Rescue Plan that I helped pass in Congress this year.

I’m proud of the ACA and the Rescue Plan for delivering affordable health care to so many people. While this is a great achievement, there is still so much work left to be done.  Like you, I believe we need to improve and build on the health care reforms we’ve put in place - not tear them down at the expense of the middle class.

That’s why I am fighting to build on the ACA to expand eligibility for Medicare to those 55 and older, enact a public option to increase coverage options, and extend the American Rescue Plan’s provisions to boost affordability and access.

I hope my colleagues on the other side in the House and in the Senate will now come to the table for common sense and bipartisan solutions to expand on this promise.
