A Weekend of Resistance
We are proud to be supporting actions by Extinction Rebellion who, as well as supporting and mobilising for our big demonstration on 26 June, are organising an event straight after the demonstration and one on Sunday 27 June too. We encourage everyone to get along to these events too and make it a weekend of resistance. More details here ([link removed])

Support continues to come in from organisations and unions who are joining us on the day. Here's some of the latest:

Health Campaigns Together:
We will join the demonstration to oppose upcoming legislation to reorganise the NHS around Integrated Care Systems that will embed the private sector even more in the NHS and undermine democratic scrutiny and accountability. We call instead for the renationalisation of the NHS and for a national care service.

Fire Brigades Union:
The FBU backs the People’s Assembly’s demo on 26 June demanding a ‘new normal’ post-Covid and encourages those who can to attend. This government has blood on its hands for the way it has handled this pandemic. They cannot make working people pay for cost of it, whether that’s through a pay freeze or taking no action on fire and rehire. The chronic underfunding of public services has been exposed by Covid and this needs to change. We need to bring about an anti-austerity government that invests in public services, builds decent housing for all, protects trade union rights, and takes action on climate change.

Stand Up To Racism:
A year on from the global wave of historic black lives matter demonstrations that played a major role in defeating Donald Trump and re-energised the anti-racist movement, we are now in the middle of a major racist offensive by the British government. Instead of responding positively to demands for action on institutional racism and the disproportionate impact of COVID19 in which tens of thousands died, the Tories have denied the existence of institutional racism, introduced a policing bill attacking travellers and the right to protest, launched new attacks on refugees and migrants, whipped up Islamophobia and welcomed the far right Islamophobe and antisemite Viktor Orbán to Downing Street. It's vital we stand up to this assault - that's why Stand Up To Racism is joining the demonstration on 26th June, as part of the "Resist the Tories' Racist Offensive" bloc. We hope you'll join us.
