Friends,
I have good news to share this week!
With the help of local experts and stakeholders, I successfully fought to get over $21 million in direct funding for Iowa infrastructure improvements included in the House's surface transportation authorization legislation, the first portion of the infrastructure agenda that my colleagues and I are pushing through Congress.
The funding will support a range of projects, including a bridge replacement in Red Oak, a Traffic Incident Management Center at Camp Dodge, and bus facility improvements for transit agencies that cover all sixteen counties of Iowa's Third District.
Repairing our bridges and roads, improving commuter routes, and upgrading our mass transit systems are all critical to ensuring Iowa has the infrastructure it needs to grow and thrive for years to come, so I'm excited to see that these projects will finally come to fruition.
That's not all - this week, two more of my bills passed the House!
And, I got to spend some time traveling Iowa in recent weeks, meeting with constituents at three different town halls.

Leveling the Playing Field for Iowa's Small Businesses with the Disclosure of Tax Havens and Offshoring Act
It's time big corporations start paying their fair share in taxes and stop moving American jobs overseas.
I've written legislation to shine a light on which companies are offshoring jobs and using tax havens to get out of paying their taxes, to protect Iowa workers, and ensure Iowa's businesses aren't at a disadvantage when competing against big corporations that are avoiding taxes.
The Disclosure of Tax Havens and Offshoring Act, which passed the House this week, provides investors and the public with transparency on corporations' use of tax havens and incentives to outsource American jobs. The bill requires public corporations to disclose basic financial information on a country-by-country basis so all Americans can see whether they are abusing tax havens or offshoring jobs.

Ensuring Worker Health and Safety with the Workforce Investment Disclosure Act
Over the past century, we've seen businesses become less and less reliant on physical assets and more reliant on their workers, but the public disclosures we ask of our public companies don't cover the investments they're making in their most important asset: their employees.
Especially in the waning days of the COVID-19 pandemic, we know how important the health and safety of our workers are to the health of a company - and as a small business owner myself I believe its critically important for investors to know the health and long-term prospects of the companies they're investing in.
That's why I wrote the Workforce Investment Disclosure Act, which also passed the House this week. That legislation updates disclosures that are currently inadequate to give investors a full picture of how modern businesses are investing in the safety and skills of their workforce.
The bill would require public companies to report basic human capital metrics, including workforce turnover rates, skills and development training, workforce engagement, pay and benefits, and workforce health and safety.

Town Halls in West Des Moines, Greenfield, and Corning
Now that the COVID-19 vaccine is widely available and we've got warmer weather back in Iowa, I've been able to get out across Iowa to meet with constituents face-to-face again.
I hosted three town halls in Adams, Adair, and Polk Counties this month, and look forward to holding many more this summer!
I hosted my second in-person town hall of 2021 at the American Legion Park in Valley Junction earlier this month.
My town hall in Greenfield kicked off a full day of events around Iowa's Third Congressional District last week. I also made stops in Atlantic, Red Oak, Stanton and Corning that day.
I spoke with Iowans about a number of issues during my town hall in Corning, including the upcoming infrastructure package, border security, and biofuels.
If you weren't able to join me at any of these stops, I'll be back out on the road again soon. I hope to see you out there!
Be well,
Cindy
