Back in March, I emailed you about how more than 250 voter suppression bills have been introduced in state legislatures across the country.

Since then, that number has increased to 389 bills in every state but two -- including anti-voting bills right here in New Jersey. Twenty-two of them have even passed.

This is a real and looming threat to our democracy. It could get harder for folks to vote as soon as next year’s elections. And make no mistake, these laws are a direct response to the power our grassroots team showed in 2020 and 2018 when we flipped NJ-11 and the House majority blue.

I support the For the People Act to combat rampant voter suppression. Will you add your name to mine and tell the Senate to pass this critical piece of legislation to protect voting rights and the heart of our democracy?

The For the People Act would:

• Prevent voter suppression 
• Protect and expand voting rights for millions of Americans
• Strengthen ethics laws
• Improve election security

In Congress, we often hear leaders talk about the spirit and resolve of our democracy. And as members of Congress, we take oaths to protect and defend our democracy.

We’re facing a critical turning point that could determine the future of our democracy, and it’s up to all of us to act.
