Next week your senators will cast their vote on S1, the For the People Act. This critical piece of legislation protects our freedom to vote in the moment we need it most.

This year, we’ve seen 48 states introduce over 389 bills to restrict access to the polls, and some of the most egregious bills have already become law, like in Georgia and in Florida.

The For the People Act has common sense democracy reforms that would make voting safe, secure and accessible for all Americans. If enacted, it would set minimum requirements to enhance the security of voting and provide for more equitable access for all voters.

1. Establish non-discriminatory voter ID requirement
2. Mandate minimum early voting period
3. Replace unsecure voting systems and require robust and transparent audits
