Last week, infrastructure negotiations between the Biden administration and a group of GOP Senators broke down as Republicans attempted to strip critical investments in clean energy, water, and green infrastructure from the American Jobs Plan.

Now, a new group of five Democrats and five Republicans have come up with a revised proposal to try to pressure the administration into a stripped down jobs package — that fails to invest in the clean energy and climate solutions at the scale necessary to tackle the climate crisis.

This is a critical moment in the negotiations, and we have to raise our voices to make clear that there can be no deal if it doesn't include climate. If a stripped down bill makes it through, it means losing our best shot at tackling the climate crisis. It means losing on clean energy. It means losing on environmental justice.

This is a once- in-a-generation opportunity to tackle the climate crisis and build a more fair and just future for all. Failure is not an option. We are talking about thousands of new jobs, billions invested in a green economy, and concrete steps to break down systemic inequalities and address the harms that the environmental justice movement has been fighting for years.
