This month, Ayanna co-sponsored the Public Utilities Resolution, legislation introduced by Representatives Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman to create a public power system and make electricity more accessible to everyone.
When people are forced to choose between turning on the heat in winter or putting food on the table, our system is broken.
When shareholder profits are prioritized over the lives of low-income people and folx of color — who disproportionately shoulder the impacts of fossil fuel pollution and an escalating climate crisis — our system is broken.
It’s time to establish a public power system. We all deserve quality energy infrastructure, and every single person in this country should have access to the electricity they need to survive.
By raising our collective voices, we can transform our power system to be just, equitable, anti-racist, and climate and disaster resilient.
Together, we’ll keep fighting for bold, transformative policy solutions for all of our communities.
