Off to the races in 2021!

NEW YORK PRIMARIES

Primary Election Day in New York City is next Tuesday and LGBTQ representation is on the line. Not only would many of our endorsed candidates make history, but New York could elect the most out city councilmembers ever!

Spotlight candidate Corey Johnson, running for City Comptroller, is hard at work on the campaign trail, meeting with voters and union members! Corey will be the first out LGBTQ person and first HIV+ person ever elected to citywide office in New York!

Brad Hoylman, running for Manhattan Borough President, announced one final endorsement from 1199 SEIU! He will be the first LGBTQ person to serve as a Borough President.

Spotlight candidate Crystal Hudson, running for New York City Council District 35, joined the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union for a final GOTV push. She will be the first Black out LGBTQ woman to serve on the council.

Lynn Schulman, our candidate for New York City Council District 29, hit the campaign trail with U.S Congresswoman Grace Meng and Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz! Lynn will be the first out queer person elected to any public office in Queens.

Amit Bagga, our candidate for New York City Council District 26, announced an endorsement from outgoing incumbent Jimmy Van Bramer! Amit will be the first out LGBTQ South Asian elected to the council.

Erik Bottcher, our candidate for New York City Council District 3, was awarded the 2021 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction – and he met some future voters on the campaign trail! He will preserve LGBTQ representation in this legacy seat that is also home to the Stonewall Inn.
