Federal Judge Overturns California’s 32-Year Assault Weapons Ban; likens weapons to Swiss Army knives.

My name's Timothy Ryan (But you can call me TJ.). I'm a 13-year Army veteran and served eight deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. I know exactly what it’s like to hold assault rifles in my hands – to fire them – and I can promise you they’re nothing like a Swiss Army knife.
This decision is horrifying and fueled by NRA-backed lies. Listen – anyone can use a Swiss Army knife, but when a service member is armed with an assault rifle it means they were carefully trained in how to use it, about its components. These aren’t weapons to be handled lightly and they are absolutely deadly in the wrong hands.
Weapons of war do not belong in our streets – in fact, I don’t trust anyone without military training with a weapon like this. And as a vet, I’m tired of seeing our lawmakers drag their feet on an assault weapons ban when so much is at risk. So, I am coming to you with a personal request:
I need your help to show an outpouring of support behind an assault weapons ban, the kind of legislation that has saved lives before and will save lives again. Please, will you join me in calling on Congress to finally ban these weapons of war? [[link removed]]

War is deadly serious, and the weapons we use in war are deadly by design. And the damage that the ammunition in assault rifles can do to the human body is unimaginable. But the NRA and its paid politicians are determined to keep these deadly firearms on the street and we need to fight them tooth and nail if we’re going to save lives – because this really is the difference between life and death.
