In the U.S. Senate – at the highest echelons of politics – there is one man who has played fast and loose with our democratic institutions for years: Mitch McConnell. His latest antics make it abundantly clear why we must go all in to protect our Democratic Senate majority. 

Asked about filling a Supreme Court vacancy if Republicans took back control of the Senate, McConnell said he would be “highly unlikely” to allow President Biden to fill a Supreme Court seat. 

McConnell already stole a Supreme Court seat from President Obama, friend – and then he jammed through a confirmation while Americans were actively voting last year. We're hearing calls for bipartisanship in one breath and the same old partisan games in another.

McConnell – aided and abetted by the likes of Marco Rubio – is 100% focused on blocking the Biden administration if he flips the Senate. Protecting our democracy from further damage means defending our Democratic majority – and Roll Call says Florida is one of the four seats that could decide Senate control.

But the American people have spoken: President Biden and the Democratic Senate majority have a mandate to fill any Supreme Court vacancy that becomes available. We must protect that mandate, especially in the face of McConnell-led obstruction in the Senate.
