In 1973 Roe v. Wade invalidated all state laws restricting abortion in the first three months of pregnancy, and NOW chapters began escorting patients into clinics which were already being picketed.

The Supreme Court, which now has six anti-abortion Justices, is taking up a case that puts Roe on the chopping block, which could clear a path for states to ban most or all abortions.
|

NOW will continue to carry the torch forward to protect and expand reproductive rights once and for all.

We know we cannot go back to the way things were before Roe. But if Roe is overturned in the courts, 20 states would likely outlaw abortion… the Governor of Texas has already signed a bill that bans the procedure at SIX weeks.
